CPAP therapy can be life-changing, but it also comes with its fair share of hassles and frustrations. Keeping your CPAP clean is a seemingly endless ongoing process, that can actually eat up a surprising amount of time. Several products have sprung up seeking to help people save time on CPAP cleaning activities. The most popular product by far is the SoClean 2. Today, we’ll do a full SoClean CPAP cleaner review for our readers.
What is the SoClean 2?
Before we get into the nitty gritty details in our SoClean 2 review, let’s start with the basics!

How Does SoClean Work?
On your end, there is a brief initial setup that involves running a supply tube from the SoClean to your CPAP humidification chamber. You may need an adapter (which is included) to fit your specific machine. There are some videos guiding you through the setup process on the SoClean YouTube page. After the initial setup is done, all you need to do is insert your mask – still attached to your hose – into the SoClean every morning.
That’s it. The SoClean will start automatically, pumping activated oxygen through the mask, hose and into the water chamber. This process sanitizes the entire CPAP system, without any disassembly required.
The ease of use of this machine is a main selling point, and something that most customer SoClean 2 reviews rave about. It really is incredibly simple to use, and can help ensure your entire unit is bacteria free.
Okay, So How Does It Really Work?
The action needed on your end is simple – but what’s going on behind the scenes? How does the SoClean actually sanitize? Check out this short video for the full scoop, directly from SoClean’s manufacturer!
Basically, the SoClean generates activated oxygen, otherwise known as Ozone or O3. It does this by drawing in normal oxygen and breaking down its chemical bonds, forming a 3-atom molecule of oxygen, or O3.
Ozone has the unique ability to destroy organic matter as soon as it comes in contact with it. So, any bacteria, germs, or mold present in your CPAP equipment will quickly be destroyed by the activated oxygen.
The O3 will pump from the SoClean into your humidification chamber, into your tube, and through your mask. It then exits the SoClean through a special filter, reverting back to normal oxygen.
Ozone is harmful to breathe in, but it has a very short lifespan of only around 2 hours. The short lifespan, coupled with the SoClean’s unique filter setup means that all the activated oxygen used to sanitize your machine will quickly revert back into normal oxygen.
How Much Does The SoClean Cost?
The SoClean is available for under $300 from Amazon.com. We will keep this SoClean 2 review updated with accurate pricing info – although, the price should stay the same for the foreseeable future.
The device rarely goes on sale, so if you’re interested in it, there’s no need to wait. The price of SoClean is in line with other good CPAP cleaning devices.
SoClean also comes with an adapter for various machines. It’s included free of charge – you’ll just need to select the right one during checkout.
SoClean 2 Review: Is It Worth It?
The SoClean does a great job of keeping your CPAP equipment sanitized. It takes minimal effort on your end, and works automatically once it’s been properly set up.
In our opinion, the SoClean is absolutely worth the money. It will save you a ton of time, and may actually get your machine cleaner than it would get with soap and water alone.
With that said, it is a major purchase given that it will cost you $300. This is why we recommend reading this entire SoClean 2 review so you have a better idea of what the product can and cannot do for you.
What Do The SoClean 2 Reviews Say?
Beyond our own SoClean 2 review, it can be useful to gauge what everyday CPAP users think about their SoClean CPAP cleaner.
Well, you’ll be happy to learn that the device is rated quite well.
On Amazon, the SoClean 2 earns 4.4 out of 5 stars from customer reviews, with more than 300 SoClean 2 reviews logged.
On the manufacturers website, the SoClean 2 earns 4.6 out of 5 stars, with more than 1,300 SoClean reviews logged.
Are There Any Downsides?
The cost makes this somewhat of a major purchase. A few reviewers mentioned an unpleasant odor left behind by the machine. Beyond that, the device is a great addition to the bedroom for any CPAP user. It can save you a ton of time while also keeping your CPAP cleaner.
It’s also good to note that the sanitation methods used by the SoClean will not remove skin oils and dirt from your machine. Thus, you’ll still need to clean your CPAP components with soap and water from time to time. With the SoClean automatically sanitizing every night, you can definitely go longer before cleaning – but you will still need to wash the mask and hose components with soap and water occasionally. See our CPAP cleaning guide for more information.
Does SoClean Work With All CPAP Units?
SoClean is designed to work with every major CPAP unit. There are separate adapters available for some popular models, including:
- ResMed S9, AirSense, and AirMini
- Respironics System One, DreamStation and DreamStation Go
- Fischer & Paykel 600 Series and ICON
Adapters for the above devices are included free of cost – you just need to choose the correct adapter during checkout.
If you don’t see your machine listed above, the SoClean might work for your machine – but it’s worthwhile to contact SoClean and ask. We have read a few SoClean reviews where customers mentioned their less-popular CPAP unit was not compatible with the SoClean 2.
SoClean Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, this is an excellent product. It’s one of only a handful of automated CPAP cleaning systems, and it’s definitely the best one for the money.
The ease of use is perhaps the biggest selling point. Once it’s set up, it takes literally 5 seconds per day of work on your end to completely sanitize your machine.
Personally, I use this machine daily and have had excellent results. I still manually clean my CPAP components with soap and water, but the SoClean has allowed me to go much longer in between cleanings. I have more peace of mind knowing that any potential bacteria, mold spores, and germs are destroyed every morning.
