Overall, it’s a mattress worth checking out if you’re looking for a good value on a quality product.
One of the things I liked the most about Casper is that they listen to their customers. There have been a couple different releases of the Casper mattress. For this Casper mattress review, I received the newest Queen model, which, at the time, was released in early 2017. As Casper has refined and continues to refine their mattress design over the years, this means that new customers will receive the best bed possible, thanks to the feedback of fellow customers, as well as the research of the folks from Casper.

Composition: How it’s Made
Each Queen-sized Casper bed is 9.5 inches thick. Before we get into the multiple layers of foam that your Casper bed is made of, we need to start with the cover. Made of a lightweight fabric, the cover stretches over the entire surface of the Casper mattress. Overall, the cover is soft and breathable with a nice added bounce.
There are four layers of foam that the Casper mattress is constructed of. From the bottom up, each mattress includes:
5 inches of support foam is your base. While some mattresses have more, it’s the same basic material that you’ll find as the base for many foam mattresses. This is followed by 1.5 inches of polyfoam. This begins the comfort specialty layers of foam that build each mattress. The main goal of this layer is to provide some softness, transitioning from support to specialty layers.
A dense memory foam takes up the next 1.5 inches serving as the second layer from the top. This layer provides pressure relief and conforms to your body to provide a more comfortable sleeping environment. This helps by allowing you some reprieve from your aches and pains, especially if you have stiff joints and/or muscle aches.
The final, top layer, is also 1.5 inches. This polyfoam is actually a specialty foam that Casper has labeled comfort foam. Similar to latex, it offers a good bounce, and it is breathable. Also, as there is a barrier between the sleeping space and the memory foam layer, you’ll notice the bed sleeps cooler. Memory foam has a tendency to be a hotter sleeping surface, but the comfort layer creates a buffer zone that allows a cool sleep space with added comfort. This makes it a good cooling mattress for hot sleepers.

How Comfortable is a Casper Mattress?
This is the most important part of our Casper mattress review — its comfort. How does this bed perform?
Overall, thanks to the added layers of foam, the Casper is a pretty comfortable mattress. It is cool, has the right amount of bounce, and doesn’t provide too much sinkage. The cover is removable and it’s breathable, so if feels nice while on, but should you need to remove it to wash it, you certainly can do that. Once I had a chance to sleep on the Casper for a while, I wasn’t at all surprised by the number of people that have decided to make this their mattress of choice.
- Firmness – I found Casper to fall pretty close to the middle on the firmness scale. It’s not too soft or too firm. It conforms well to your body, which is important. Based on the medium firmness of this mattress, it’s a decent option for couples, as well as the average sleeper. Of course, heavier sleepers may want something a bit firmer, depending on their specific needs.
- Sinkage – I didn’t notice much sinkage at all. While the mattress conforms to your body, there was never a moment where there was a struggle to get out of bed. There was never that feeling of sinking too deep. Casper will hug your curves for a comfortable sleep, but you don’t have to worry about sinking.
- Motion Transfer – I’ve slept on a lot of beds and have to say the Casper excels when it comes to motion transfer. If you’re in a relationship, you won’t have to worry about bugging your partner if you toss, turn, or get up in the middle of the night. The mattress barely moves, and if it does, it certainly wasn’t enough to wake me or my wife up when it happened. That makes it a good mattress for couples.
“Mattress Magic”: Is Casper a Good Bed for Sex?
If you’re wondering how good the Casper mattress is for sex, it’s definitely a good option. While choosing a bed for sex isn’t the most important thing, it does make a difference. The Casper bounces well and provides little sinkage, which allows you to move easily, receive some momentum from the bounce, and remain comfortable in a variety of positions.
Casper Mattress Free Trial
Like all good bed-in-a-box mattresses, Casper includes a free trial. In this case, you’ll receive 100 free nights to test out this mattress. If you like it and keep it, you have a ten-year warranty. If you decide to return it, it’s just a matter of calling customer service and letting them know your decision. They will remove the bed and have it donated or recycled, depending on the situation. There’s nothing to lose, and 100 nights is plenty of time to determine if a Casper mattress is right for you.

Casper Mattress Reviews: See What Others are Saying
If you’re interested in what other people have to say, you’ll find a variety of Casper mattress reviews online. I personally believe it’s a good idea to hear what as many different people think about a mattress because everyone is different and this gives you a fuller understanding of the product’s quality and performance.
Here are a few Casper mattress reviews from real customers on Amazon and other retailers.
“I really love this mattress and I was very skeptical when I bought it without a test. My girlfriend has a high-end $5000 mattress and she prefers my Casper to her own. The Casper is cool (temp wise) to sleep on., my body adjusted right a way to it, and never felt sore or uncomfortable. Some people complain of a smell, but I did not experience this and the mattress had inflated to the proper size in under 4 hours. I love it and would buy it again.” – Protrader
“This was an amazing buy. We have both a temperpedic and a sleep number, we bought this for our son and now are so jealous. We like it better than any of the others.” – Rebecca
“This is my first foam mattress and after doing my research I choose the Casper. It is so soft and so comfortable I never want to get up. When your body settles in as you lay down, the bed is amazingly soft, but still firm. It really is the perfect combination of soft and firm. Doesn’t feel like your sinking in at all and turning on your side or back feels just the same as turning on a traditional mattress, except much more comfortable. The support for your back, whether you’re a side or back sleeper is amazing. The mattress contours to your body and provides essential needed support. I very pleased with this mattress and I’m sleeping better and longer than I have in a long time.” – Phil
Conclusions: Who is the Casper Mattress Best Suited For?
The Casper is light weight (the Queen is less than 80 pounds), easy to setup, and depending on your location, delivery may even be available the same day. Sinkage is minimal, bounce is good, the mattress is comfortable, and it sleeps cool. All in all, in my experience, there was little to complain about, and it’s really a solid option for all sleepers, including side, back, and stomach sleepers.
Casper keeps listening and improving their mattress, and it shows in the number of people buying them, along with the overall comfort of the mattress we received. If you’re in the market for a bed, you should check them out!
