Allswell Mattress Review (2020): Read This Before You Buy

allswell mattress review

Quick Take: You’ll find plenty of details in this Allswell mattress review, but what it comes down to is that this is a good mattress at a fair price. Allswell is Walmart’s answer to the bed-in-a-box mattress revolution. While two versions are available, this Allswell mattress review is for the firmer, hybrid model. Made with memory foam and coils, the Allswell Luxe Classic Firmer might be a mouthful, but it’s well worth the purchase.

  • More affordable than many hybrid mattresses
  • Hundreds of positive reviews from satisfied customers
  • A 100-night risk-free trial to test the mattress to ensure it’s right for you

  • Does not come in Twin XL or California King so sizes are more limited than some

Our Full Allswell Mattress Review

It was only a matter of time before Walmart entered the bed-in-a-box arena. The Allswell Luxe Classic Firmer is one of two mattresses made by Allswell. This particular mattress is a hybrid, which means that it includes both memory foam and coils. Of the two mattresses, the Luxe Classic Firmer is the firmer model, as the name implies. For this Allswell mattress review we’re going to focus on the Luxe Classic Firmer, as that is the mattress we tested out. That said, the Allswell mattress reviews for the softer model are extremely positive, if you’re looking for something that’s softer.

One of the best things about the Allswell mattress is that it’s made from the highest quality, natural materials. Every foam that is used is CertiPUR-US Certified. This means that the foams are free of harmful additives like mercury, lead, or something even worse! Natural deodorizers from plant oils are used so that chemical deodorizers are able to be avoided. This makes Allswell a mattress that’s a good choice for sleepers with allergies or that want the highest quality mattress they can find.

If you don’t have a lot of money to spend, it would be hard to find a better deal for a hybrid mattress than you will with Allswell. You have several options for delivery when you’re ordering an Allswell mattress. You can choose standard shipping and your mattress will arrive compressed in a box. You’ll just remove the box and plastic and the mattress will expand on its own. If you’re willing to pay a little bit more, you can get white glove delivery and mattress setup for just $99. If you need your old mattress removed and purchase white glove delivery, you can pay an additional $50 for removal of your old mattress.

Allswell Hybrid Mattress Cost and Mattress Models

A fair price for a new hybrid mattress

The Allswell mattress is available for a great price. At $899 for a Queen, the price is already good, but when you consider it’s a hybrid mattress, that makes the price even better! The only real downside to the Allswell comes in when you’re choosing your mattress size. If you want a standard size, they have you covered. However, if you’re looking for Twin XL or California King, you won’t have any luck.

Size Dimensions Price
Twin 39” x 75” x 12” $495
Full 54” x 75” x 12” $720
Queen 60” x 80” x 12” $855
Supreme Queen (King) 76” x 80” x 12” $1,035

These prices are very affordable and make the Allswell mattress a great value. Check out our guide to the best mattresses for the money for other great affordable beds.

Composition: How it’s Made

Four foam layers provide a cool and restful night’s sleep.

allswell mattress composition

The Allswell hybrid “Firmer One” mattress is comprised of three layers and a cover that offers a thick, plush topper built in. The cover is incredibly soft, and you’ll notice how cool it is when you touch it. Another thing you might notice is the design of the cover. It’s definitely trendy enough to leave your bed bare if you wanted to do that. Directly under the cover is the topper that offers a multi-foam combination that will add to your comfort overall.

Under the cover are three layers made of foam and coils. The top layer is a layer of foam. This Air Flow Foam is breathable, which will help to keep your mattress cooler. This is the layer that will contour to your form to keep you comfortable. It’s also great pressure relief. The middle layer is an even softer foam. This creates a transition layer between the coils and the top foam layer.

Finally, there is a 7.5” layer of 13-gauge pocketed coils. Each coil is wrapped individually, which helps to minimize motion transfer. It also adds to the overall supportiveness and durability of your Allswell mattress. At 12” in height, the Allswell is a thick mattress, which makes it great for a variety of sleepers, including people with a heavier body type.

How Comfortable is an Allswell Mattress?

Offering a firm feel, the Allswell Firmer One is great for a variety of sleepers

allswell comfort

Where comfort is concerned, the Allswell mattress comes in at about a 7 on a 10-scale. We tried the bed out in a variety of sleep positions. Stomach sleepers and back sleepers should enjoy the firmness of the mattress. Despite the fact that it’s firm, it offers some slight cushion and contouring, so it provides added comfort. That said, it is rather firm and may not be as comfortable for side sleepers due to it being on the firmer side of things. If you are a side sleeper, the Allswell Luxe might be a better option for you.

  • Firmness: At a 7 out of 10, the Allswell is quite firm. You should find that while it is firm, it’s not hard. The mattress offers a comfortable cushion that will contour to your form when you sleep on your back or your stomach. There might not be enough cushion to support comfortable side sleeping though.
  • Sinkage: There wasn’t much in the way of sinkage to report. You might notice a bit of sinkage when you initially lay down, but it’s just enough that it contours to your body and makes for a more comfortable sleep surface.
  • Motion Transfer: While you may feel some movement on the Allswell, it performs fairly where motion transfer is concerned. That said, it has a nice bounce to it, so if you’re a light sleeper you might notice movement if you sleep with someone.

“Mattress Magic”: Is Allswell a Good Bed for Sex?

A contouring comfort layer along with a nice bounce will make all the difference

The Allswell is firm, but it’s not hard. You’ll find that all of the right spots are hugged when you’re on the bed. Thanks to the hybrid mix of coils and foam, this mattress offers a nice bounce, which can come in handy during sex. With a hybrid mattress you have the benefit of the comfortable foam and the supportiveness of the coil system. Motion transfer is alright, but in this case, feeling the motion isn’t necessarily a bad thing. All in all, you should have no problem enjoying intimate activities on the Allswell.

Allswell Mattress Reviews: What are Others Saying?

If you pay attention to other Allswell mattress reviews you will see that most people are quite fond of this firmer mattress. Actually, both the softer and firmer models are getting positive praise in reviews from sleepers all over the country. Here are some of the comments made in other Allswell mattress reviews from verified buyers.

“Bought a king sized Classic Luxe, been sleeping on it for a week now and the wife and I couldn’t be happier. We’ve gotten much better sleep compared to the old inner spring we had before. Back and neck pains that we had from our former mattress are gone and we’re getting a much better night’s sleep. We set it up and was able to sleep on it within a few hours but it took about 2 full days for it to get to it’s peak firmness.” – Aaron

“The Mattress is great, but even after 2 weeks the mattress still smells bad as when I opened, I have been trying to ventilate it, but it is not working…” – Daniel A.

“My wife and I got the Supreme Queen firmer mattress and we have never slept better. The mattress is firm, but still very soft. I move a little more than my wife does but she can’t feel me move at all. We wake up feeling refreshed and really enjoy the mattress.” – Broc L.

Conclusions: Who is the Allswell Mattress Best Suited For?

Like you’ve probably read in other Allswell mattress reviews, the Allswell is a good option if you’re looking for a new mattress. It’s reasonably priced overall and made from the highest quality materials. While the motion transfer is not as solid as you might find in other mattresses, it is one of the few weaker points about the Allswell. For the price offered, you won’t find a better hybrid mattress. As we mentioned earlier in this Allswell mattress review, while back and stomach sleepers should be more than comfortable on the Allswell, side sleepers might want to seek out the softer, Luxe model, as it would be better suited to their sleep style.
