Some Things to Consider:

The best mattress for the money is not necessarily the cheapest mattress. To find the bed that offers the greatest value, you must compare its comfort, build quality, support and other factors with its price.

For example, you may find a luxury mattress that would normally be priced at $2,000, but is offered online for $1000. This bed might present a better value than a $700 mattress, even though it’s more expensive.

On the other hand, a more expensive mattress doesn’t necessarily mean a better mattress. Typically mattress stores mark up their products by as much as 900% – so that $3,000 bed they’re selling might have only cost $300 to make…

The best mattress for the money is going to come with a decent warranty of at least 10 years, a trial that allows you to test out the bed, and a durable design. We recommend finding a mattress offering 10” of material or more, as that will cut back on sagging and other issues that thinner beds might offer.

Also, if you’re wondering about a box spring, keep in mind that if you buy a foam mattress a box spring isn’t usually necessary. For that reason alone, you might find that the best mattress for the money might be a foam mattress. All you need is the mattress and the frame (or you can place it on the floor) and you’re good to go!

Our Credentials

What makes us qualified to recommend the best mattress for the price?

Experience – Christ Brantner, the owner of SleepZoo, is a Certified Sleep Science Coach whose work has been featured in Bustle, Huffington Post, NBC News, the Daily Mail, and many more mainstream publications. Additionally, our entire team is obsessive about optimizing our sleep and learning about the latest in sleep science.

Testing – we don’t just blindly recommend beds based on reviews – we actually physically test mattresses to see how they feel. We test in a variety of sleep positions, using several different people with varying body types and weights.

Research – we give priority to our own findings from testing, but we also conduct extensive online research into each bed. We dig into the material composition of each mattress, the warranty details offered by the manufacturer, and third-party customer reviews.

How We Chose the Best Mattress for the Money

With a ton of great mattresses out there, you may be wondering how we picked the best bed for the money. Here are the factors we focused on:

Value, not price – while price is certainly a factor, we focused more on the overall value offered by the mattress. To do this, we analyzed the comfort, support, and feel of the bed, and compared it to its competitors. Then we put its features into perspective by comparing its price, coming to a conclusion by comparing benefits to retail price.

Comfort and quality – when you buy a bed, you’re purchasing something that you’re going to spend about 1/3rd of your time on. So, it better be comfortable! Not only that, but it better be made with quality materials that are built to last! We focused on beds that felt very comfortable and were made to stand up to the tests of time.

Durability and warranty – we dug deep into the materials each bed was made with to analyze its durability. We also kept the bed’s warranty details in mind. Most beds should remain comfortable for at least 5-10 years. Longevity of the mattress was an important consideration because it has a significant effect on the overall value of the bed.
