The Leesa mattress is one of the most highly acclaimed mattresses you can buy online. Like others in its class, the Leesa is a “bed in a box” that comes shipped compactly to your home where you can try it out risk-free for 100 nights to determine if you like it.
Overall, I love the Leesa mattress, and as I’ll explain in the review below, I think most people will like it, too. That’s because this is a mattress that’s made to appeal to the majority of sleepers. However, there’s no such thing as the one perfect mattress for everybody, and there are some people that the Leesa might not right for.

Leesa Mattress Cost and Models
Currently, there is only one model of Leesa mattress but it comes in all sizes. Personally, I appreciate this as it makes the shopping experience much easier. You know exactly what type of mattress you’re getting when you buy a Leesa, whether you get a Twin or a California King — the feel will be the exact same.
So, how much does the Leesa mattress cost? Let’s take a look at the prices below:
- Twin — $525
- Twin XL — $625
- Full — $790
- Queen — $890
- King — $990
- California King — $990

When you compare the price of a Leesa mattress to other high quality hybrid and memory foam mattress, it’s actually a great value. Some memory foam mattresses can run as high as $4,000. With the Leesa mattress cost of under $1,000 for the most expensive model, you get a comfortable, luxurious bed for a fraction of the cost.
Composition: How It’s Made
Essentially, the Leesa mattress is composed of three layers of foam and a cover. So, let’s start with the cover.
The cover spans the entire mattress. If you flip the mattress over, you’ll find a zipper. While you can technically take the cover off and wash it if spot treating doesn’t work, I probably wouldn’t do that. The cover is actually quite nice. It’s thick and aesthetically, it has a four-bar design that is pleasing to the eye. It’s obvious that the cover is high quality, and it speaks to the attention to detail that Leesa puts into each mattress. The actual fabric is a poly-lycra blend. This means that you can expect that the material of the cover is durable, breathable, and that it stretches just how it should. Sure, you won’t see the cover much since it’ll be covered in sheets, but if it were uncovered for a bit, it wouldn’t be the eyesore that some mattresses seem to be.
Now for the foam layers. The Leesa mattress is a hybrid mattress so instead of having one foam, like memory foam, you have three. The bottom 6” of the Leesa mattress is high density support foam. This is followed up by 2” of memory foam. Memory foam is wonderfully supportive, but it comes with its down sides. For example, it sleeps hot for many and it causes its fair share of sinkage.
The downsides to memory foam are masked by the 2” of Avena foam that make up the top layer. Avena is a latex foam that is patented for its unique qualities. This specialized foam is more durable, has better bounce, and offers the right amount of foam ideal for maximum comfort. It also is incredibly breathable and features a cooling layer that feels amazing, especially in the summer months. This layer will provide a cooler, more comfortable sleeping surface.
How Comfortable is a Leesa Mattress?
Overall, the Leesa mattress is a comfortable mattress. I like to say that it would work for the average sleeper, because it would. If you’re used to an innerspring mattress, you might need a little time to get used to foam, but, all in all, the Leesa mattress is nothing to complain about.
- Firmness— When it comes to firmness, the Leesa mattress is somewhere in the middle. It’s not too firm, but it’s not super soft either. The mattress is medium firm and that’s going to work well for a lot of people. It’s not hard, but you’re not sinking down into it because it’s just too soft.
- Sinkage— Every mattress has a little bit of sinkage, and that’s something that will vary based on the weight of the people sleeping on the bed along with the overall composition of the mattress. During our Leesa mattress review, we tested the mattress sinkage and found that not a lot of sinkage occurs. All mattresses are going to sink a little, but I had no problem moving easy or getting out of bed, as a result.
- Motion Transfer— Here’s one of the big ones. No one wants to be fast asleep only to wake up because the person lying next to them is getting up. The good news is that this doesn’t happen with Leesa. When you move to get up, your partner won’t feel it because the bed remains stable enough to allow them to stay asleep.
“Mattress Magic”: Is Leesa a Good Bed for Sex?
Yes! The Leesa mattress will provide the perfect bed for sex. The mattress is bouncy, without bouncing too much. It also remains comfortable in multiple positions. Perhaps most importantly, despite being a foam mattress, the level of sinkage is so minimal that it won’t make you feel like you’re trying to have sex in quicksand. You’ll have the ability to move easily and comfortably so you can concentrate on more important things.
Leesa Mattress Free Trial
We already went over the Leesa mattress cost, but what we didn’t talk much about was the 100-night sleep trial. This is something that you aren’t going to get when you walk into a mattress shop. You really don’t have anything to lose. We recommend sleeping on the mattress for at least 30-days before you make any final decisions, but ultimately you have 100 nights to do your own Leesa mattress review. If you find that the mattress isn’t for you, you can call Leesa and they will make sure that your mattress is picked up.
Rather than taking the mattress back if it can be donated to a local charity, it will be donated. Otherwise, it will be disposed of. In any case, your Leesa mattress cost will be zero. You won’t pay a dime and will be free to find a mattress better suited to you.
It’s also important to remember that you should buy your Leesa mattress directly rather than through sites like Amazon. When you buy on Amazon, your Leesa mattress trial is only 30 days, rather than 100.

Leesa Mattress Reviews: What Others are Saying
Rather than depend on what one person is saying in a Leesa mattress review, consider what other people that have purchased this mattress have to say. All of the following reviews come from customers that have left reviews on social media and/or the Internet. In this case, the reviews are from shoppers that have left reviews on Amazon.com.
“Awesome. I love this. I had a tempurpedic before this one and the Leesa is much better. Comes in a small box on your doorstep and expands. My back hurts constantly and this helps me wake up with no pain.” – Jonesy
“I’ve had this mattress for about 2 months now, and I’m truly getting the best sleep of my life. I’ve always been an insomniac and just thought that I’d have to suffer through laying in bed for hours trying to fall asleep and waking up multiple times every night. Now I feel dumb for suffering so long when I didn’t need to, turned out I’ve just been sleeping on the wrong mattresses. Now I can fall asleep in minutes and I stay asleep all night. I can finally wake up at a normal time feeling rested and refreshed instead of feeling exhausted. This is truly life changing. I can’t say enough good things about this mattress.” – Dustin
“This is the first time I bought a foam mattress. Fortunately, it has exceeded my expectations. My back has never felt better in the morning. Another surprise is that I am able to sleep on my side on one of my injured shoulders which was not possible on a spring mattress” – Angelo
“I’m a side-sleeper and this bed killed me the first week I used it—I woke up with back/shoulder pain every day. Issue was easily fixed with a memory foam pillow topper. Really nice-looking mattress, though.” — Joshua
Conclusions: Who the Leesa Mattress Is and Isn’t For
After completing this Leesa mattress review, I have to say that the Leesa mattress will appeal to most sleepers. It works for back and side sleepers. It’s firm enough to make it a good mattress for back pain, but soft enough for someone wanting a plusher mattress. It’s also got a bounce that makes it perfect for sex. With the 100-night trial you don’t have anything to lose. Give the mattress a month, and if you’re like most people, you’ll find that buying a Leesa was one of the best decisions you ever made.
Leesa mattresses are made in the USA, which is something that is important to many people. Also, if you’re concerned with charity, for every ten beds sold, Leesa donates one mattress to an organization that can help those in need. Additionally, for every mattress sold a tree is planted.
The Leesa mattress is just one of many great mattresses that are available online. If you’re not sold just yet, take a peek at our mattress guide for a comparison of the top mattresses for your sleep situation.
